Covid has forced us all to cocoon,and like many I found myself looking back at some of my souvenir from some of the adventures with teary eyes.Because wow! who knew a year later we would still be in travel ban. This is why I think its so important to always have a little keepsake from each adventure to relive the experience all over again. Yes , it feels like im being teleported to that exact moment.
Some examples of momentos could be , stones from your first morning walk by the beach, pictures with your tour guide who had all the insights you could never find in a book, video journal from the pool while people watching, items bought along the way, a serviette with a number of a new love interest, experiences that you could never have gained anywhere else in the world, even as simple as a photobomb from a monkey that wanted to feature in your Instagram story(LOL , that happened!)
When i walked through the medina of Morocco I knew , I had to get a bag , but I also discovered, my now treasured scarfs.I can never wear them without thinking fondly of the 10 day tour of Morocco which I will still share about in a future post.
I guess for me its not about expensive high end purchases but rather , the street corner purchases that require a bit of negotiation(if you know what I mean). Moving from city to city, discovering how rich the culture is ,honouring each human encounter as a gift that deserves to be encapsulated through time.
